Declutter Your Mind
Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month?
In honor of this, I thought I would talk about what I know best and that is CLUTTER. And I don’t mean the clutter in your home. I want to talk about mental clutter and the negative impact it can have on your productivity and overall wellness.
What Does Mental Clutter Look Like?
Clutter is found in so many shapes and sizes. We can find it in our homes, schedules, email, and in our heads. Mental clutter is anything that makes our minds feel like they are in overdrive. For example:
A packed schedule
Negative feelings
Unfinished tasks
Unhealthy relationships
Worry about the future
Anxiety about the past
The Impact of Mental Clutter
The problem with mental clutter is it adds stress to your life and can leave you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, frazzled, and even burnt out.
Carrying too much mental clutter can slow you down, leaving you feeling less productive and often leading to procrastination.
How Do We Clear the Mental Clutter
Declutter your physical things to help clear your mind (because one supports the other).
Set boundaries between work and life.
Take inventory of your relationships.
Do a deep dive into what is important to you.
Exercise your body AND mind daily.
